The vet picked up a stone to
demonstrate the size of a
carettacaretta (turtle) hatchling.
When he had finished his description
he just tossed it over the edge of the
viewpoint with a well practised flick of
the wrist and without a second thought
to any one who might be in the church
yard below.
Expecting a shouts from mourners the 5
gingerly looked over the edge and saw
nothing except a great pile of rubbish.
A few yards further along the road
was a small shrine with a picture of
Granny in it.
Dick wondered out loud if they'd
tossed Granny over the edge when they
got fed up with her. The others hushed
him to shut up.
